Day 1: Kithulgala

Ayubowan to Sri Lanka. You will picked up early in the morning from Colombo / Negombo and will be transferred short distance on private coach to cross the city limits. Today we will cycle through the foothills of the mountainous central highlands region to reach the wettest place of Sri Lanka – Kithulgala. This is a typical rain forest area on the riverside with beautiful sceneries. This is adventure lover’s dream destination which offers white water rafting for the adventurer in you, and many options for trekking and cave exploration. Day 2: Nuwara Eliya

Today we will be cycling towards the tea country of Nuwara Elia. Nuwara Eliya, also known as ‘Little’ England’, was the favourite hill station of the British who tried to create the resort into a typical English Village. Cycle to the hill country with tea plantations all around and the ever smiling tea workers in their traditional sari are either Indian Tamil or Sri Lankan Tamil. The Indian Tamil populations are descendants of migrant workers from India during the British colonial rule whereas, the Sri Lankan Tamil include those who migrated to Sri Lanka in the ancient times during the battles and conquers from across the ocean from South India. The Hindu temples and the little homes of the tea workers in these vast tea-plantations is itself a sight to cherish and remember.

Day 3: Kandy

After breakfast we start our cycling towards Kandy, which is renowned for the Temple of the Tooth relic – a temple that is magnificent & highly venerated by the people of the island. Later in the day watch a Kandyan dance performance and visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The routes are undulating with a few climbs and many descents. Hop into your hotel for lunch and enjoy the rest of your day overlooking the hill city of Kandy.

Day 4: Knuckles Range

Today’s cycling takes you towards the spice country of Matale and then to Illukumbra. Illukumbra place is famous for the Knuckle Hill Ranges, which got the name because it looks like the knuckles of a clenched fist that could be seen from many viewpoints. There are several designated bicycling routes which give the opportunity to explore and feel the enthralling landscapes across the Dumbara hills and valleys all alive with the sound of nature’s music. Your stay will be at a planters bungalow situated 1,000 meters above sea level with stunning views of the knuckles mountain ranges.

Day 5: Knuckles Range

Early Morning, we will start our hike from Illukumbra. We will be walking through the lush evergreen rainforest along the Knuckles mountain ranges. After few kilometres of climb through the forest, we will trek down the valley and will be walking along the shores of Kalu Ganga River. While on the trek, you also have the option to take a quick dip in the river. We will also be crossing few streams and waterfalls before reaching our campsite.  Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 6: Knuckles Range

Today, we will be trekking towards Manigala.  We will leave the camp after breakfast, and will start trekking towards Bhanalla.  We will be following the forest tracks and will be walking through the forest valley. Enroute the trek we will visit an isolated family living in the forest for over 40 years.  We will continue our trek till we break for lunch near Pathana Waterfalls – a beautiful waterfall deep inside the forest. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 7: Dambulla

We will leave from the camp after breakfast to climb the Manigala Mountain. We will be trekking through the lush montane evergreen forest along the Knuckles valley, until we reach the top of the Manigala Mountain. Once you are at the top, you can have a spectacular 360 degree view of the Knuckles mountain ranges. We will spend some time on top before trekking back to the camp. After lunch, you will be transferred to Dambulla which is close to the UNESCO Heritage site of Sigiriya and has ancient remains as early as the 15th century BC. This ancient site stands testimony to the Sri Lankan culture, beliefs and habits of the rulers of Ceylon.

Day 8: Depart

Depart to Colombo. You could walk up the Sigiriya Lion’s Rock Fortress or the Pidurangala temple for experiences of the culture and views around the town. There is also the option of visintg the Minneriya National Park for wild-life enthusiasts.
