Day 1: Chilaw

Ayubowan to Sri Lanka. Early morning, you will be met by our representative at Colombo / Negombo and will be transferred short distance towards the cycling start point. We will hop on our bikes and will start cycling from coastal Negombo, to experience the inland delights of Sri Lanka. We bike along the costal roads towards the fishing communities and the villages that dot the west coast. Lunch is served in a cozy seas-side restaurant. With peace, good food and a great start you’re up and ready for an insightful tour into rural Serendib.

Day 2: Kurnegala

Cycle to the ancient royal capital city of Kurunegala. We will be cycling through Munneshwaram which is well known all around the island for its festivals .We will visit the Munneswaram Kovil and will continue our cycling towards Kurunegala. There are a range of interesting walks to do around the local area taking in the surrounding forests, tea plantations and local villages. Of special interest is the Buddhist rock temple and local rock pool which is great for a refreshing dip!. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3-4: Dambulla

Your ride takes you to the Golden Cave Temple @ Dambulla (2nd WHS). Apart from the numerous statues of Lord Buddha you would also notice fine frescoes that are believed to date back as far as 1st century BC when King Valagam Bahu took refuge here during his exile from Anuradhapura. Your cycling route covers paddy and wild grass fields apart from numerous spice and coconut plantations following an old irrigation canal.

The ride next-day takes you closer to the UNESCO Heritage site of Sigiriya which has ancient remains as early as the 15th century BC. This ancient site stands testimony to the Sri Lankan culture, beliefs and habits of the rulers of Ceylon. After lunch we head to the rock fortress of Sigiriya (3rd WHS). This is quite steep and is not recommended for people suffering from vertigo or giddiness. The ruins of the palace on the summit are surpassed only by the magnificent aerial view of the surrounding jungle.

Day 5: Illukumbra

Today we are cycling towards Illukumbra, which is famous for the Knuckle Hill Ranges, which got the name because it looks like the knuckles of a clenched fist that could be seen from many viewpoints. The route covers forests and some beautiful grass lands. There are several designated bicycling routes which give the opportunity to explore and feel the enthralling landscapes across the Dumbara hills and valleys all alive with the sound of nature’s music.

Day 6: Kandy

Transfer to Galle after the jungle safari in the Udawalawe National park with confirmed sightings of elephants in the wild. The charming town of Galle is one of Sri Lanka’s most fascinating sea-side retreats and the fourth largest city in Sri Lanka. Arrive at your hotel, check-in and spend some time at leisure. Evening, you can go for visiting Galle Fort – a world heritage site build by the Portuguese. Enjoy the sunset at Galle Fort and get back to the hotel for overnight stay.
