The mysterious Knuckles Mountain range – named after its likeness to a clenched fist – offers some of Sri Lanka’s most hauntingly beautiful nature trails. Day 1: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport. You will be met by our representative at the airport and will be transferred to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Rest of the day is free to relax or to explore the destination. There are a range of interesting walks to do around the local area taking in the surrounding forests, tea plantations and local villages. Of special interest is the Buddhist rock temple and local rock pool which is great for a refreshing dip! In the evening, there will be a short presentation about the trekking tour. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Knuckles Range
Your trekking adventure begins today. We will check-out after breakfast and will transfer you to the trek start point at Illukumbra. We will start our hike towards the Manigala Mountain Ranges. We will trek through the lush montane evergreen forest along the Knuckles valley, until we reach the top of the Manigala Mountain. Once we reach the top, you can enjoy the spectacular 360 degree view of the Knuckles mountain ranges. We will spend some time on top before trekking back to our campsite. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 3: Knuckles Range
Today, we will be trekking from Manigala towards Kalu Ganga. We will be walking through the lush evergreen rainforest along the Knuckles mountain ranges. After few kilometres of climb through the forest, we will trek down the valley and will be walking along the shores of Kalu Ganga River. While on the trek, you also have the option to take a quick dip in the river. We will also be crossing few streams and waterfalls before reaching our campsite. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 4: Knuckles Range
We will leave the campsite after breakfast, and will head towards Bhanalla. We will be following the forest tracks and will be walking along the forest valleys. Enroute the trek, we will visit an isolated family residing in the forest for over 40 years. We will continue our trek through the forest and will stop for lunch near Pathana Waterfalls – a beautiful waterfall deep inside the forest. Later on, you will continue your trek towards the north face of the Knuckles mountain range, and will be staying overnight at a five bedroom planters bungalow situated 1,000 meters above sea level with stunning views of the Knuckles mountain ranges. Day 5: Knuckles Range
After breakfast, we will start our hike from the Forest Bungalow towards Rathkinda in the knuckles valley, which will take you along terraced paddy fields and irrigation waterways and conclude with a refreshing dip in the waterfall and a sumptuous picnic lunch. We will trek back to the property for a peaceful rest. Overnight stay at the forest bungalow.

Day 6: Habarana
We will check-out from the forest bungalow after breakfast, and will proceed to Dambulla. The little town of Dambulla situated at the heart of the cultural triangle is famous for its remarkable cave temples: We will visit the World Heritage Site, the Dambulla cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, which is known as the spiritual centre for Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Later on, we will visit the famous Pidurangala Cave. Short climb to the top of Pidurangala will give you breathetaking views of the surrounding area including Sigiriya rock. After enjoying the beautiful sunset view at Pidurangala Cave, you will be transferred to your resort for overnight stay.
