Day 1,2: Sigiriya

On arrival, you will be met by our representative at the airport. Transfer to the ancient capital city of Sigiriya built by the parricidal King Kassapa I. The UNESCO Heritage site of Sigiriya has ancient remains as early as the 15th century BC and this site stands testimony to the Sri Lankan culture, beliefs and habits of the Ceylon rulers. Rest of the day is free for you to relax at the hotel.

From historic site to cultural attractions, there are number of exciting things to do in Sigiriya. Because of its archaeological importance, the locals refer Sigiriya as the Eighth Wonder of the World.

We will visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress – one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning and architecture. Later in the afternoon, we will visit the famous Pidurangala rock from where you can have breath-taking views of the surrounding area including Sigiriya rock. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Knuckles Ranges

Check-out after breakfast from your hotel at Sigiriya and transfer to the trek start point at Illukumbra. This place is famous for the Knuckle Hill Ranges, which got the name because it looks like the knuckles of a clenched fist that could be seen from many viewpoints. We will start our hike from Illukumbra towards Manigala Mountain. We will be hiking through the lush montane evergreen forest along the Knuckles valley, until we reach the top of the Manigala Mountain. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy spectacular 360 degree view of the Knuckles mountain ranges. We will spend some time on top before trekking back to our campsite. Overnight stay at Manigala camp.

Day 4: Knuckles Ranges

Today, we will be trekking from Manigala. We will be walking through the lush evergreen rainforest along the Knuckles mountain ranges. After few kilometres of climb through the forest, we will trek down the valley and will be walking along the shores of Kalu Ganga River. While on the trek, you also have the option to take a quick dip in the river. We will also be crossing few streams and waterfalls before reaching our campsite.  Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 5: Knuckles Ranges

We will leave our camp after breakfast, and will start trek towards Bhanalla.  We will be following the forest tracks and will be walking through the forest valley. Enroute the trek we will visit an isolated family living in the forest for over 40 years.  We will continue our trek till we break for lunch near Pathana Waterfalls – a beautiful waterfall deep inside the forest. Afterwards, we will continue our trek towards the north face of the Knuckles mountain range, until we reach a planters bungalow situated 1,000 meters above sea level with stunning views of the knuckles mountain ranges. Overnight stay at the forest Bungalow.

Day 6: Kandy

Today, we will trek short distance from the forest bungalow to a view point from where you gaze down at the waterfalls and the valleys down below the knuckles mountain ranges. After the trek, we head towards our next base to explore Sri Lanka’s hill town of Kandy. Perched amongst the tea-clad hills of the Kandy Plateau, this is home to one of the most significant sites for Buddhists: the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic. Enroute we will visit the spice gardens at Matale. Later in the day, we make our way to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Hatton

After an early breakfast, transfer to the railway station at Kandy to embark on a 3 hour train journey towards Hatton. The train journey will give way for plenty of photographic opportunities before reaching Hatton and is one of the most scenic train rides in Asia . The dramatic landscape of the highlands stirs the senses as you wind past lush tea plantations, majestic peaks and rushing waterfalls.  Arrive at Hatton and transfer to Nallathanniya for overnight stay.

Day 8: Nuwar Eliya

In the early hours of the morning, we will be head for a Sunrise trek to Adams Peak. . Adams peak is also known as Sri Pada and is one of Sri Lanka’s most important religious pilgrimage sites. We will reach the summit before sunrise.  As you reach the summit it feels more like walking among the clouds. Strong, cold winds can also be experienced. You could enjoy the spectacular views of the distant mountains and the valleys. We will return to the hotel for breakfast. Later in the day, you will be transferred towards the tea country Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya, also known as ‘Little’ England’, was the favourite hill station of the British who tried to create the place into a typical English Village.  Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Ella

We will leave after breakfast towards Ella, a small town in the south of Sri Lanka in the Hill country.. In the folklores, it says that the Sri Lankan demon King Ravana abducted Sita from India and kept her hidden in the Hakgala National Park. The area was offered to Sita as a pleasure garden which is mentioned in the Ramayana (Hindu Epic) as Ashok Vatika. After lunch, trek to Ella Rock – a famous cliff, located high above Ella’s village.  The rock offers stunning views across the hill country, and the plains below. Overnight at the hotel

Day 10: Udawalwe National Park

After breakfast, we will go for a short morning walk to visit the Ravana falls.  After visiting Ravana falls, you will be transferred to Udawalawe National Park. We will pass local markets before entering the National park area. The area is home to many fruit trees and will notice fruit sellers as well as families selling yogurt along the streets. Head to a cozy hotel with a pool to relax for the rest of the day. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11,12: Bentota

Transfer to Bentota after an early Morning Jeep Safari at Udawalawe National Park.  Bentota is a coastal town famed as the prime beach resort of the south-western and southern coastal belts of Sri Lanka. The city is graced by palm trees and a serene atmosphere. Bentota provides the perfect location for water sports lovers and is ideal for snorkelling, diving, sailing, wind surfing, water-skiing and deep-sea fishing on a traditional outrigger canoe.  You can spend the next 2 days relaxing on the beach.
